Gardens aren’t the only place to see beautiful spring flowers. Now, during the DeYoung Museum’s 31st annual Bouquets to the Arts festival, some of the most beautiful blooms are indoors-complementing some of the museum’s most beautiful pieces of art.
This year, more than 100 of the Bay Area’s most talented floral designers have created arrangements intended to interpret specific pieces in the museum’s permanent collection. Although the annual show entails six days of previews, galas, dinners and seminars, we made due with a simple stroll through the galleries. The rewards more than compensated for the work entailed in wending our way through the crowds. For those who were unable to make it to this year’s show, following are some of our own personal highlights: not just the most striking and lovely arrangements, but also those that most effectively complemented the art.
