The commercial center of the Boothbay Peninsula, Damariscotta Maine isn’t exactly the most attractive of happening town along the Maine Coast. It is, however, right in the middle of Boothbay Harbor and Pemaquid Point, a short distance from Wiscasset Maine and on the road to Rockland, Camden and Maine’s upper Downeast coast. It is also home to a restaurant at which we had a very good dinner.
We enjoyed three very nice dishes along with a nice bottle of wine and good service at this restaurant. A very nice ending to a pleasant day. We began with fried oysters (although Tom substituted tarter sauce for the Cajun sauce) and a generous broiled seafood platter with haddock, salmon, scallops, wild Maine shrimp and pan-fried lobster cake with sweet corn sauce, rice and vegetables. The meal was complemented by a lovely bottle of 2012 Domaine Christian Moreau 1st-cru white burgundy from Vaillon. We finished the meal with a Maine blueberry cobbler with a ginger crust and vanilla ice cream. Yummmmmm.
