Every March San Francisco’s de Young Museum joins a few other U.S. art museums in paying a special homage to spring. Its Bouquets to Art exhibit encourages floral designers to select a piece of art that they will interpret or complement with a display of flowers. The weeklong festival, which always draws huge numbers of patrons, always seems to be packed even, or perhaps especially, on the two member-only nights.
Those who brave the crowds are always rewarded with a display to remember. This year did not disappoint.
But enough words. Bouquets to Art is about art and how organic floral art interprets, and perhaps enlightens more traditional forms of inorganic art. Following is a small sample of the more than 100 pairings in this year’s display.
